Christoph Niemann, a New York Times cartoonist, live-drew the 2011 New York City Marathon on Nov. 6, all while running the 26.2 mile race himself. On the way, he encountered racers in costume, was seranaded by his companions, craved, hallucinated, and found sustinence, and managed to sketch and paint scenes from every step of his journey.

See some of the best of Niemann's hilarious, artistic, honest renderings of the IGN marathon. If you like what you see (and if you're a marathon runner, a New Yorker, or human, you definitely will) then be sure to check out the artist at his official web site.
