Los Angeles Lakers forward Nick Young fired back at ESPN anchor Robert Flores Monday after he mocked Iggy Azalea, Young’s rapper girlfriend. Flores, who hosted ESPN’s Sunday night edition of “SportsCenter,” made reference of Young’s recent claim that a dolphin tried to drown him while he vacationed in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico to poke fun at Azalea’s career during the show’s “What Did We Learn?” segment.

“We learned that, according to the Lakers’ Nick Young, a dolphin recently tried to kill him. So Nick, while dolphins are trying to kill you, your girlfriend’s trying to kill hip-hop. Let’s call it even, okay?” Flores said.

Young discussed his death-defying encounter in February and joked the dolphin tried to drag him underwater because it was “trying to get on Iggy,” according to ESPN. But the 29-year-old was less than jovial when he took to Twitter to confront Flores over his comments.

“So off the fact you that was cool to say, don’t sit right with me so we got a problem,” Young wrote to Flores. “You [sic] job is to talk about sports not what me and my chick got going on. I’m pretty sure we going to run into each other soon.”

Young explained his comments to his Twitter followers in a subsequent post. “Its cool to talk about me all day any day I find [sic] with that, I can take a joke .. That what I do joke, but didn’t see the point of that,” he said.

Azalea has yet to comment on the Twitter beef, but Flores wrote a post that appeared to address the situation. “Sooo…what’s been going on today?” he said.

This isn’t the first time Young has defended her longtime girlfriend on Twitter. He mocked Snoop Dogg in October after the rapper slammed Azalea’s appearance in an Instagram post, according to Sporting News. Young and Azalea have dated since at least November 2013.
