All might not be well between Nicki Minaj and Miley Cyrus. While many Twitter users assumed the MTV Video Music Awards tiff between Cyrus and Minaj was staged, a new report suggests the pair’s jabs at one another was not planned and left the “Wrecking Ball” singer seeing red.

According to E! Online, Cyrus stormed backstage at the VMAs after Minaj called her out for a recent interview she did with the New York Times about the Minaj and Taylor Swift feud. As previously reported, the 22-year-old pop star said she didn’t understand why the rapper was getting so angry over her video “Anaconda” not receiving a nomination for Video Of The Year.

“I don’t respect your statement because of the anger that came with it… What I read sounded very Nicki Minaj, which, if you know Nicki Minaj is not too kind. It's not very polite," Cyrus said during her interview. “To be honest, I don’t think MTV did that on purpose.”

On Sunday night, while thanking her pastor and fans in her speech for Best Hip Hop Video for “Anaconda,” Minaj called out Cyrus, saying, "Now back to this b---- that had a lot to say about me the other day in the press. Miley, what's good?” The pop star, who was serving as host for the evening, responded saying her comments in the New York Times interview was taken out of context. “Hey we're all in this industry. We all do interviews and we all know how they manipulate s---. Nicki, congratu-f-------lations.”

Even though Cyrus promptly returned to her hosting duties, a source told E! Online that Minaj continued to curse at Cyrus which “pissed” off the pop star. “She stormed backstage cursing and yelling about it as she headed toward her dressing room,” the source said. Cyrus has not commented on the supposed feud on her social media pages, but Minaj posted shortly afterwards "Lmaoooooooo," with heart-eyed emojis.
