It’s hard to believe that five years have passed since One Direction made their debut in the music industry. To celebrate the momentous occasion, the band members took to Twitter this week to express their gratitude for their fans' support and appreciation for the five years spent together. One of the messages that caught the attention of fans was Liam Payne’s tweet which included former bandmate Zayn Malik.

Payne’s twitter shout-out proved that there’s no bad blood between the One Direction members, stated E!News, since the musician included Malik in his celebratory tweet. Payne wrote, "Wowwwww 5 years 5 boys what an amazing journey I couldn't thank you all ever enough and thank you Louis Niall Harry and zayn for everything," The former One Direction member also responded to his friend’s message, writing, "@Real_Liam_Payne thanks bro !" Malik included a smiley face emoji and a kiss to the post.

Payne then added another Twitter shout out: “Thanks for all the memories boys I love you all.”

One Direction fans were excited and happy with the twitter exchanges, especially when Malik retweeted two of Payne’s anniversary messages, reported Billboard. Some even seemed emotional over the messages, with fans writing how they were either screaming or crying over the tweets. One fan even wrote: "PHYSICALLY FINE EMOTIONALLY DIED."

Although all of the four One Direction members took to social media to celebrate the band’s fifth anniversary, Payne was the only one who got a message from Malik, stated Daily Mail.

The former band member quit on March 25, 2015, citing that he wanted to be a “normal 22-year old.” At that time, Malik shared that it was “the right time” for him to leave the band. He added that he wanted to “relax and have some private time out of the spotlight.” The musician apologized to his fans for letting them down but said that he needed to do “what feels right in my heart.”

One Direction is currently completing the Canada and U.S. leg of their “On the Road Again” concert tour.
