“Orange is the New Black” star Laverne Cox is currently working with Beyoncé on a mystery project.

While speaking with Access Hollywood, the self-confessed Queen Bey fan still cannot believe that she has been given the chance to collaborate with her biggest idol. When asked how their project came about, Cox admitted that she really has no idea. “I have no idea, to be perfectly honest. I’m like, does she pick out her biggest fans ever and let them work with her? It’s pretty amazing,” she gushed.

Unfortunately, Cox couldn’t share any details about her work with the award-winning singer, but on her Twitter account, she confirmed that new information will be released on Sept. 6. On Wednesday, the actress also used the hashtag “Trans is Beautiful,” which may have something to do with their upcoming project.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the two A-list celebrities first met at the Grammys earlier this year. At the time, Cox was invited to present an award, and Beyoncé was there to perform. At the event, Cox said that Beyoncé looked her in the eye and stood up for her.

“She got up for me! Beyoncé stood up for me and said just the loveliest things. She had seen my ‘Lip Sync Battle’ performance, she just knew that I was a huge fan, I guess people had been telling her… She’s a queen,” she said.

In February, Cox channeled her inner Beyoncé in the hit Spike TV show and competed against her “Orange is the New Black” co-star, Samira Wiley.

Meanwhile, Cox will return to the hit Netflix original series “Orange is the New Black” for its sixth season next year. She plays the role of Sophia and was recently sent to the SHU after being wrongfully accused of physically assaulting the other inmates at Litchfield prison. In Season 6, Sophia will reunite with her friends from prison and will most likely fight for her rights as a transgender woman despite others saying that she is still a man.

While speaking with Telegraph ahead of the Season 5 premiere, Cox said of her character, “People are not just feeling for Sophia, who is a black trans woman, they are feeling for the actor Laverne who is also a black trans woman.”
