Rumple found himself locking lips with someone other than his pregnant wife Belle on Sunday’s “Once Upon a Time.”

After a few flirtatious scenes, Season 6, episode 6 included a kiss between the Dark One (Robert Carlyle) and the Evil Queen (Lana Parrilla) on the ABC series. While some viewers swooned over the unexpected romance in “Dark Waters,” others were non-too-pleased by the plotline.

The controversial smooch happened at the end of episode 6 when the Evil Queen paid a visit to Rumple’s pawn shop to “make amends.” The Evil Queen tells Rumple the most important lesson he ever taught her was to “know what you want and go after it with everything you have” before planting a kiss on his lips. When Rumple questions if he is what she truly wants, she reveals she needs him to help her compelte a task: getting Snow White’s (Ginnifer Goodwin) heart.

Rumbelle supporters came out in full force on Twitter following the kiss heard round Storybrooke, slamming the show for appearing to breakup the fan-favorite couple. Some fans reached out to the network asking to reinstate Rumple and Belle (Emilie de Ravin), others went directly to the source: executive producer Adam Horowitz.

“Fix Rumbelle! I beg you! I’ve been a loyal fan from the beginning. I love how the storyline joined Belle & Rumple,” one fan wrote to the showrunner. “I would like to report a missing person. Rumple from seasons 1-3 has disappeared,” quipped another viewer. Check out a few other upset Oncers’ responses below.

Not everyone appears upset by the kiss, however, and star Robert Carlyle had touted the episode online. Ahead of episode 6’s premiere, he posted a photo ahead of his kiss with the Evil Queen on Twitter. “#itstartedwitha” he teased. His on-screen wife, Emilie de Ravin, also shared the image. Could that be a sign all is not lost for the pair?

Not only did de Ravin share a photo of her on-screen husband’s almost smooch, her character, Belle, also shared a very important picture with Rumple on Sunday’s episode. After not inviting him to their baby boy’s first ultrasound, she stopped by his pawn shop to drop off a photo of their child following her appointment. While Belle told Snow White she was unsure if he could “ever do anything to repair what they once had,” the gesture sure looks like Belle extending an olive branch to her estranged hubby.
