Australian telecom Optus said Tuesday that its subscriber base rose by four percent in the latest quarter, bringing its total to 6.74 million.

Figures released from Optus' parent company Sing Tel in a statement shows that 60,000 new subscribers were added to its customer profile by March 31, compared with the same period a year ago.

Of its 6.74 million subscribers, 445,000 are signed with Optus' 3G services.

The increase in Optus' subscribers was just one part of SingTel's business. The parent company has businesses in Asian markets of India, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Bangladesh and the Philippines.
