The story of Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) and Claire Randall (Caitriona Balfe) continues in France in Season 2 of the Starz television series “Outlander.” Heughan spoke about how he had to revisit some of the scenes of Season 1, in order to prepare for his role. Meanwhile, actor Tobias Menzies shared his thoughts about Jamie and his character, Black Jack. [Spoiler alert!]
Shooting for Season 2 has already begun. Speaking to the Los Angeles Times, Heughan said he had to rewatch some episodes from Season 1 in order to get “reacclimated to where the characters had left off.” The brutal torture of Jamie at the hands of Black Jack had left the character both physically and mentally scarred.
Heughan said he “kind of forgot” how “intense” some of the scenes were and “to what extreme” some of the characters went in Season 1. He teased that Season 2 would “feel like a journey of discovery” and added that next year will be “very different” from what fans have seen so far.
“Outlander” Season 2 will “feel like a very different world,” the actor said. Heughan said that France will almost feel like an “alien world” for the characters from Scotland. In addition to Jamie and Claire, Duncan Lacroix’s character, Murtagh Fraser, will be seen in France. They will meet a whole new set of characters in France, as they attempt to stop the Battle of Culloden before it starts.
Menzies paid a few compliments to Heughan’s character, when he spoke to Yahoo. The actor said that his character Jack found Jamie to be able to “endure the physical pain in a way that no one else had before.” He said that his character, who enjoys “administering pain to people,” found Jamie’s strength intriguing.
Jamie and Claire had to get away from Jack and the other British soldiers in the final episode of Season 1. Fans will get to see their beloved characters again in “Outlander” Season 2, which is slated to air in 2016. The producers still haven’t confirmed the premiere date of the next season.
