A handgun and a magazine with live rounds were found in the backpack of a student at Overton High School in Memphis Tuesday morning.

The student, only identified as being 15 years old, was carrying a .25-caliber RG26 handgun in his backpack, according to Memphis television station WMC-TV. The gun wasn’t loaded but a magazine with five live rounds was also discovered in the backpack. The student was charged with possession of a weapon on school property.

The gun and magazine were found as the student tried to go through a metal detector at Overton HS, the Memphis Commercial Appeal reported, citing the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.

The student was taken to juvenile court, according to the paper.
