Charlie Sheen has joined countless celebrities and comedians in mourning the loss of Patrice O'Neal, the stand-up comic who died on Nov. 29 after struggles with diabetes and a stroke.

Sheen met O'Neal when the latter participated in Sheen's Comedy Central Roast on Sept. 10, 2011. At the celebrity roast, O'Neal and Sheen traded wisecracks, with the stand-up comic mocking Sheen's playboy lifestyle and the actor making O'Neal the butt of many jokes about diabetes.

Sheen: O'Neal A Brilliant Man

Taking to Twitter, Sheen was far more reverential towards the dead comedian than he had been during his Comedy Central Roast. He tweeted a link to a full statement on O'Neal's death, calling him a brilliant man and expressing his sympathies to the comedian's friends and family:

The entertainment world as well as the world at large lost a brilliant man today. Patrice had that rare ‘light’ around him and inside of him.

I only knew him for the few days leading up the Roast, Charlie Sheen wrote. Yet I will forever be inspired by his nobility, his grace and his epic talent. My tears today are for the tremendous loss to his true friends and loving family.”

Celebrities Take to Twitter

Sheen was not the only one to use Twitter to mourn Patrice O'Neal. Countless other celebrities, including fellow comedians, posted tweets expressing their admiration or trading memories of the hilarious, often controversial comic.
