People Magazine ended 2014 with a bang Thursday night, debuting their first ever People Magazine Awards at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles. As expected, dozens of Hollywood’s most beloved actors, singers and A-listers showed up to the event, and several even walked away with a win.

Following in line with the 2014 Golden Globe award nominations, actress Jennifer Aniston was gifted the award for Best Movie Performance of the Year for her leading role in the film “Cake"-- her first film-acting prize of her career, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Fellow Golden Globe nominee, and speculated Oscar frontrunner, actor Michael Keaton, was awarded the same honor for his role in the drama/comedy “Birdman.”

As for the TV awards, it was Aniston’s longtime “Friends” co-star, actress Lisa Kudrow, who won the Television Performance of the Year award for her HBO series “The Comeback.” Despite never earning an Emmy for his portrayal of Don Draper in AMC’s “Mad Men,” Jon Hamm was also recognized for his work.

Unlike traditional awards show that only award stars for their talents, People Magazine's ceremony also acknowledged celebrities for their life choices, red carpet looks, and even their physical appearance. Victoria's Secret Angel model (and Taylor Swift's best friend!) Karlie Kloss won for Model of the Year. Actress Kate Hudson, who is fresh off her split from “Muse" singer Matt Bellamy, won the award for best Celebrity Role Model. She credited her mom, Goldie Hawn, and kids, Ryder, 10, and Bingham, 3, for helping her secure the win.

“This is a beautiful honor,” Hudson, 35, said during her acceptance speech. “Life is a journey with its ups and downs, its challenges and its triumphs. Don’t ever let anyone push you around.”

It came as no shock to anyone on that two-time Sports Illustrated cover girl, model and actress Kate Upton, won for People’s Sexiest Woman of 2014. “It’s amazing. Sexy is someone who is confident and happy and apparently I achieved that in 2014,” Upton told People TV after securing the win. She later directed a special message to her boyfriend, Detroit Tigers pitcher, Justin Verlander. “You’re welcome," she said.

In between the award acceptance speeches, the teen band 5 Seconds of Summer took the stage to perform The Romantics hit song “What I Like About You.” After winning the award for Style Icon, Gwen Stefani sang “Spark the Fire” with her “The Voice” co-star, Pharrell Williams. Fellow “The Voice” judge Adam Levine, and his band, Maroon 5, serenated the crowd with their hit single, “Animals.”
