R&B Singer Rihanna, actress Amy Poehler and fashion designer Stella McCartney were among the 2009 Glamour Women of the Year awarded by the magazine in New York's Carnegie Hall.

The magazine also honored women who made an impact on politics, medicine, writing and sports, among others. First Lady Michelle Obama received a special recognition for her mentoring efforts. 

The winners are also featured in the magazine's December issue.
