The title of the next “Planet of the Apes” movie has been revealed in a new report: The movie, slated to be released in 2017, will be titled “War of the Planet of the Apes,” suggesting that the movie will feature the final battle between humans and apes for dominion over Earth.

The events of the previous movie left no doubt in Caesar’s mind that humans will seek revenge against the apes. According to a report by Collider, the director had originally planned to take the previous movie “one step further” in terms of the war between the apes and humans, but eventually it was decided to end the movie with more options for the next chapter.

The director apparently wanted to focus on the emotional state of Caesar, with one emotional parting scene of him and Malcolm. The movie did not become a full-blown war, with the U.S. military getting involved, although there were references of the military arriving to help the people in the movie.

The military is expected to play a big role in “War of the Planet of the Apes” and the report suggests that the movie will be the “biggest” from the franchise. The movie will not only see Caesar as a war general, but it will also elevate his status to a powerful mythical figure who will be remembered in ape history for years to come.

The director, Matt Reeves, said that Caesar will become like the Bible's Moses in the upcoming movie. The report speculates that the character may lead the apes to “the promised land,” but may not make it himself.

The cast members for “War of the Planet of the Apes” have not been announced yet. Andy Serkis has played the lead role of Caesar in both the previous movies from the franchise. The producers have also not officially confirmed the title and the main plot of the upcoming movie.
