Pokémon Go was recently updated to version 0.57.4 on Android and 1.27.4 on iOS. While the patch’s “minor text fixes” were largely intended to increase performance on older devices, those with newer products are struggling. Two threads on the Silph Road subreddit document crashes, incompatibility and more.

While the so-called performance updates are only a few days old, it’s clear not everyone is finding them suited for their particular hardware. On iOS, problems range from crashes while the app is in the background, blue screens, lag, battery drain and GPS errors. Most of these glitches are reportedly happening every few minutes.

For Android the situation is fairly similar. The app fails while scrolling through gyms, in battle or in general use. As an added bonus, rampant disconnects with the Pokémon Go accessory are still an active hindrance. Especially with forced updates being rolled out over the last few hours, it appears trainers will have to deal with any of the shortcomings listed above. Of course not all devices are impacted, but the negativity is loud and widespread enough to take notice.

As we’ve discussed in some of our previous Pokémon Go update guides, there are a few fixes that may help. For iPhone, the simplest advice is to uninstall and reinstall. Android has options to clear app data in a way that might improve performance overall.

Despite the fact that Pokémon Go will eventually grow to include features like trading and legendary monsters, it’s no secret that this app is still struggling to maintain stability amongst its community. Just days ago, warnings and bans were dispatched for trainers using any and all third-party tools to improve their party. As beloved as this game is, it’s been a constant source of frustration for many.

Pokémon Go is available now on Android and iOS.
