Elan Corporation, Walt Disney Company, Hewlett-Packard Company, Harmony Gold Mining Co, Sony Corporation, Carnival Corporation, Research In Motion Ltd, France Telecom SA and ING Groep N.V. are among the companies whose shares are moving in the pre-market trading Wednesday.

Elan Corporation Plc (NYSE:ELN) stock surged 10.90 percent to $11.60 in pre-market trading. The company announced it has agreed to restructure the Tysabri collaboration with Biogen Idec (BIIB). Elan will move from the current 50:50 business collaboration to an upfront payment of $3.25 billion and a double digit tiered royalty structure for the complete asset.

The Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS) stock rose 3.17 percent to $56.01 in pre-market trading. The company shares surged after The Walt Disney Company Chairman and CEO Bob Iger confirmed speculation that the company is working on standalone films based on 'Star Wars' characters in a CNBC interview. They will not be part of the main nine-part 'Star Wars' saga. 

Hewlett-Packard Company (NYSE:HPQ) stock rallied 2.95 percent to $17.10 in pre-market trading after media reports said the board of directors are studying a break-up of the U.S. technology company among several options to obtain maximum value for shareholders.

Harmony Gold Mining Co (NYSE:HMY) stock advanced 2.27 percent to $7.22 in pre-market trading. The company has a 52-week trading range of $6.41-$13.40 and a market capitalization of $3.07 billion.

Sony Corporation (NYSE:SNE) stock climbed 1.07 percent to $16.00 in pre-market trading. The company engaged in electronics, game, entertainment, and financial services has a 52-week trading range of $9.57-$22.35 and a market capitalization of $15.89 billion.

Carnival Corporation (NYSE:CCL) shares rose 1.01 percent to $38.95 in pre-market trading. The company has a 52-week trading range of $38.50-$38.82 and a market capitalization of $31.15 billion.

Research In Motion Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) stock plunged 3.25 percent to $15.50 in pre-market trading. The company shares surged about 7 percent in regular trading Tuesday.

France Telecom SA (NYSE:FTE) stock decline 2.18 percent to $10.77 in pre-market trading. The company has a 52-week trading range of $10.20-$15.87 and a market capitalization of $28.96 billion.

ING Groep N.V. (NYSE:ING) shares dropped 2.11 percent to $9.28 in pre-market trading. The company has a 52-week trading range of $5.51-$10.47 and a market capitalization of $36.04 billion.
