Did Aria (Lucy Hale), Emily (Shay Mitchell), Hanna (Ashley Benson) or Spencer (Troian Bellisario) kill Charlotte (Vanessa Ray)? That’s the question that was posed at the end of the “Pretty Little Liars” Season 6B premiere.
The girls had simply returned to Rosewood after five years to give a statement regarding the release of Charlotte. And while they weren’t thrilled about the idea of seeing their former “A” tormentor freed from the loony bin, they told one more little lie for Alison (Sasha Pieterse). However, their “good deed” backfired when Charlotte ended up dead the day after she was released.
Although it initially looked like a suicide, Lorenzo (Travis Winfrey) broke the news to the group that Charlotte was already dead when she plummeted from the clock tower. And unfortunately for them, that wasn’t the only news he had to share. The Rosewood police officer told the girls that they had to stay in town because they were wanted for questioning in Charlotte’s murder.
The synopsis for Season 6, episode 12 teases that the liars will “start to look at one of their own as questions arise regarding the new mystery.” And based on the promo video for the episode, titled “Charlotte’s Web,” it appears as if Aria is the one catching the heat from her friends.
“I know that you left the hotel,” Hanna confronts Aria in the episode 12 promo video.
“By the time you came back Charlotte was already dead,” Spencer chimes in.
Could Aria have been the one to kill “A”? She was the only one to tell the judge that she didn’t feel safe with Charlotte free, and it looks like her statement is coming back to haunt her. But is Aria actually covering for someone else? The teaser for Tuesday’s episode reveals that Aria might have simply been following Ezra (Ian Harding).
But the biggest shocker from the promo is that it looks as if Alison is going to throw her friends under the bus. The video features her talking to Lorenzo about if she thinks her friends could have played a part in Charlotte’s murder.
“Pretty Little Liars” Season 6, episode 12 will air on Freeform (previously ABC Family) on Tuesday, Jan. 19 at 8 p.m. EST.
