Princess Diana wore a Victor Edelstein gown as she elegantly danced with Hollywood actor John Travolta at a November 9, 1985 White House dinner.

The ink-blue Edelstein gown is among her fourteen iconic dresses that are to be auctioned off at Waddington’s auction house in Toronto on Thursday.

The dress was earlier sold for $222,500 at an auction at Christie's in New York, the highest price paid for any one of the 79 gowns worn by the Princess. The dress was auctioned to raise funds for AIDS and cancer charities in Britain and the United States by the princess herself in July 1997, two months before her tragic death in a car accident.

But the gown will again go under hammer as the Florida woman, who owned it, is reportedly bankrupt.

The iconic, so-called John Travolta dress is expected to sell for between $800,000 and $1 million, according to Vince Ciarlo, a spokesman for the auctioneers, ABC News reported.
