Olympic track legend Carl Lewis has announced that he will seek to run for a seat in the New Jersey State Senate as a Democrat.
Whether Lewis wins or not, a great many athletes in the U.S. have become politicians. At least two have even become President – Gerald Ford was a standout center and linebacker for the University of Michigan Wolverines, which won national titles in 1932 and 1933; while George H. W. Bush was the captain of Yale University’s baseball team.
