The average garbage man working in Newport Beach, Calif., makes $59,000 a year. The average sales manager in the U.S. -- just $53,000.

Magicians, who make $49,000, earn about $1,000 more than social media specialists. An egg donor ($90,000) makes double what the average midwife ($34,000) earns.

Some professions pay surprisingly well, according to this data compiled by iFOREX from the Bureau of Labor Statistics and several salary tracking sites. For example, a submarine cook gets paid a whopping $200,000 a year.

Perhaps the most surprising is this: hot dog vendors can make as much as $100,000 a year. No wonder there’s so much competition for prime hot-dog selling locations!
