England's Queen Elizabeth II is in Australia on a ten day visit to the British commonwealth.

In a speech at Parliament House in Canberra, the Queen spoke about Australia's “difficult year, which saw heavy flooding in the south of the country that killed 35 people.

In her 16th visit to the country, Queen Elizabeth also discussed the Christchurch, New Zealand earthquake that killed 169 people in February.

The British monarch and her husband Prince Philip will visit New Zealand later in her trip.
