Things are finally looking up on Bravo’s “The Real Housewives of Orange County.” The cast managed to put their drama aside during Season 11, episode 8 to celebrate Shannon Beador’s 52nd birthday with an elaborate bash planned by her husband, David Beador.

Early in the episode Shannon is surprised by a phone call from her hubby, urging her to pack her bags in a hurry and prepare to be whisked away for an overnight. Shocked, she begins gathering her essentials — Spanx, a few outfits and, of course, her holistic healing tools. David arrives within moments and the pair are out the door. While Shannon tries to squeeze the surprise out of her husband, the rest of the “RHOC” crew are sipping champagne — or champs, as Heather Dubrow would call it — and speculating about what may go down during this birthday celebration.

Viewers then learn that Heather was in on the surprise, though she is in the dark about many aspects of the evening’s program. Shannon and David arrive and she is blown away that he thought to bring her to that particular hotel. Her excitement grows as she learns that the venue is just the tip of the iceberg. She and David disappear for a few moments alone before putting on their Sunday’s best for what Shannon thinks is just an intimate dinner. David leads her to a nearby dining area, where the cast — sans Vicki Gunvalson and Kelly Dodd — are waiting to surprise her. Other notable guests include Bravo’s Jeff Lewis and Gage Edwards from “Flipping Out.” David then reveals that another surprise awaits and pulls Shannon away from cocktail hour into a grassy area where she learns they will be renewing their vows before sharing a meal with everyone in attendance. Officiating the ceremony is the pastor Shannon turned to when she learned her husband had been unfaithful two years prior on her birthday. He recalls the many ups and downs of their relationship before allowing them to say a few words about one another.

Meanwhile back in Orange County, Vicki and Kelly throw a bit of a pity party. The pair meet at a swanky restaurant to sip spicy cocktails and whoop it up. Naturally it’s only a matter of moments before Kelly’s Season 11, episode 7 c-bomb is brought up. Vicki warns the “RHOC” rookie against aggressive behavior, telling her the ladies on this cast — whom she has starred alongside for several years — never forget. Kelly is thankful for the advice, comparing Vicki to Buddha. They then raise a glass to the other ladies, whom Kelly claims are just jealous.

It remains unclear whether the remainder of Season 11 will be as peaceful, though it seems unlikely. Previews for an upcoming episode suggest Heather and Kelly will come face-to-face next Monday to discuss Kelly’s colorful language and affinity for impersonations of her co-stars. Yikes!
