Viola Davis and co-star Billy Brown are known for getting down on ABC’s “How to Get Away With Murder.” But their steamy sex scenes come at a cost.

In an interview with SiriusXM show “Sway in the Morning,” Davis, 50, said there will be no more sex for her character Annalise Keating — at least temporarily. People magazine reported she shared that during a recent scene she threw out her back after Brown, who plays her on-again, off-again lover Nate, threw her against a wall. Davis said she was “totally committed to the scene.” She assured listeners, including any “HTGAWM” fans tuning in, that she eventually will get back in the saddle — it is “Shondaland” after all.

“I just told them to slow it down for a minute,” she said. “I’m going to get back into it. I have to. It’s Shondaland! They’re gonna have me doing all kinds of stuff with all kinds of people.”

While Davis’ interview gives us hope there will be some Annalise-Nate romance during the remainder of Season 2, it’s unclear when or how that will kick back up. The episode 12 synopsis suggests the Middleton University law professor and her team of troubled students will be busy being blackmailed. During a short preview for the episode, Annalise can be heard reading an email aloud that demands $1 million be wired into a linked bank account. The sender, believed to be Phillip from Season 2, episode 8, promises to go to the police with an incriminating video from the night of Annalise’s shooting if the demands are not met.

“HTGAWM” airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. EST on ABC. Check out a preview for the episode below:
