Reese Witherspoon is not only an Oscar winning megastar, she's also a mother and domestic violence activist. During an appearance at the World Conference of Women's Shelters in Washington, D.C, the Southern belle spoke about the domestic dispute between Rihanna and Chris Brown. She told People that the spat, which resulted in Brown's arrest, serves as an important cautionary tale. She even talks openly about the incident with her children.

We talk about domestic violence and what that means. Although the concept is somewhat foreign to them, they're starting to understand that this happens to families in our country and all throughout the world. My daughter knows what happened. My son knows as well. We talk about what is abuse. I think it's important to talk to our daughters and our sons in order to educate them at an early age about what's appropriate and what is absolutely not acceptable.

The star has two children, Ava and Deacon, with former husband Ryan Phillippe. Witherspoon married Hollywood agent Jim Toth last March in an intimate ceremony. The star is set to team with fellow female empowerment symbol for the musical One Hit Wonders. So far, Gwyneth Paltrow, Cameron Diaz, and Andy Samberg (Saturday Night Live) are rumored to be starring in the project.
