“Rocket League” fans, rejoice! Psyonix just announced that a new mode is coming to the vehicular soccer video game next week, along with a couple of changes. The free mode is said to change the way fans play the game since it is based on more challenging mechanics. The announcement comes just days after the developer revealed that it does not plan on releasing “Rocket League 2” yet.

On Monday, Psyonix took to the official Rocket League Twitter account to announce and share a sneak peek at the upcoming new mode called Dropshot. This new take on the action-packed game is scheduled for release on March 22.

On the Rocket League official website, Psynox’s Devin Connors said that Dropshot is their brand new take on “Rocket League’s” gameplay. In this mode, players are expected to destroy as many floor panels on the opposing team’s area than to focus on leading the ball to the goal. The mode is said to focus more on Damage, so the more damage one does to his or her opponent, the more floor panels are going to break. This makes it even more challenging and exciting to aim for a higher score than the opposing team’s.

New changes are also slated to be implemented alongside the Dropshot mode. Psyonix says players should expect to see new achievements and trophies, as well as new painted Bodies and Rocket Trails. A new Skill Tier hierarchy will also be introduced alongside the inclusion of an Esports content button. Additionally, March 22 will mark the end of Competitive Season 3. Rewards will be given to all skill tiers before Season 4 officially kicks off.

In a separate webpage for the Dropshot mode, Psyonix revealed that original import battle-car Endo will be available exclusively as part of the new Turbo Crate, which also contains all-new exclusive Garage items. Five new unlockable crate items are also coming next week and they are Suji (rare), Xenosplash (very rare), Furry Paint (import), Kalos (exotic) and a special Black Market item.

Just last week, Psyonix VP Jeremy Dunham was interviewed by Kinda Funny Games’ Colin Moriarty about “Rocket League.” During their conversation, Dunham revealed that they are not planning on releasing a sequel to the vehicular soccer game anytime soon because they are currently more focused on improving it for their millions of players.
