UPDATE 2:10 p.m. EST: The Nassau County Police Department has determined that no shooting took place at the mall:
Roosevelt Field mall is open. Reports of shots fired are unfounded.

UPDATE 1:59 p.m. EST: A spokesman for Simon Properties, the owner of Roosevelt Field Mall, confirmed to News 12 Long Island that there was no shooting. The spokesman said a display case fell over after a shoplifter ran over it in Macy's, and the resulting sound resembled gunshots. The incident created a panic, but the Macy's and the rest of Roosevelt Field Mall is expected to be reopened soon.
UPDATE 1:54 p.m. EST: Dan Linden, an NBC News producer, reports that the Nassau County Police Department said no shots were fired inside Roosevelt Field Mall despite 911 dispatchers receiving such calls. Police said a few people sustained minor injuries while running out of the mall.
There are unconfirmed reports of shots fired inside Roosevelt Field Mall on Long Island, although Twitter is abuzz with media and patrons of the New York mall tweeting about the event:
