Baby Gosling has a name! A little over two weeks after Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes welcomed a daughter on Sept. 12, the name of the famous couple’s baby has finally been released – Esmeralda Amada Gosling.
Gosling, 33, and Mendes, 40, welcomed their first child together after three years of dating. The couple kept Mendes’ pregnancy a secret, even denying the baby rumors during an appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.” However there is no denying that the pair are now new parents. The Insider With Yahoo reportedly obtained the birth certificate for the famous newborn.
According to Baby Center, Esmeralda is of Spanish origin and was at its height of popularity in the late 90s. Coincidentally, Disney’s animated film “The Hunchback of Notre Dame,” which featured a lead female named Esmeralda (voiced by Demi Moore) was released in 1996. The ranking dropped in the early 2000’s, but recently went on the rise again.
But Mendes and Gosling’s daughter might not be named after “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” gypsy – because Mendes played a character named Esmeralda in a 1999 TV show. Mendes was featured in one episode of Pamela Anderson’s “V.I.P” series, a show about a girl at a hot dog stand who gets mistaken for a bodyguard after she accidentally saved a celebrity. It was one of Mendes’s first roles when she joined the acting scene in the late 90s.
As for Baby Gosling’s middle name, Amada? It’s definitely a unique name – and one that Eva Mendes is also very familiar with. In 2007, Mendes starred in a crime drama called “We Own The Night” with Joaquin Phoneix and Mark Wahlberg. The flick was about a New York nightclub manager who must try and save his brother and father from Russian mafia hit men.
While the couple have yet to publicly acknowledge the birth of their daughter, Esmeralda Amada, “insiders” say that the pair are enjoying parenthood. “She’s absolutely in heaven being a mom. She’s never been happier,” a source dished to People magazine. “She and Ryan are just in awe of this beautiful person they created. It’s a very special time for them.”
