Redmond O'Neal, son of Ryan O' Neal was arrested on Tuesday for drug possession and violating probation after Santa Monica police officer stopped him for traffic violation and discovered heroin in his car,officials said.

“O’Neal was pulled over at Lincoln and Olympic boulevards after he ran a red light at about 8:15 a.m.,” Santa Monica Police Sgt. Richard Lewis told L.A Now.

One of our officers while searching O’Neal’s car found out heroin, police said.

O’Neal was booked for the red light violation, breaching felony drug probation and possession of a controlled substance and he was held without bail, Lewis said.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday. O’Neal was already on probation and might have to return to prison.

The 26-year-old is a son of actor Ryan O’Neal and the late Farrah Fawcett, who died of cancer in 2009. He has been in and out of jail and rehab centers for crimes related to drug abuse since his teenage days.

In 2009, only to attend Farrah Fawcett’s funeral, he was temporarily released from jail.

After a routine security check at Pitchess Detention center in 2009, O’Neal was found with heroin and was jailed.
