Canned food buyers may want to check on their recent purchases following the announcement that Sager Creek Foods, Inc., a subsidiary of Del Monte Foods, Inc., has recalled around 15,000 shipped cases of field peas with snaps and green bean products. The cases being recalled are believed to be contaminated with traces of shellfish. If those with a shellfish allergy were to eat the contaminated product, they could suffer from a serious and possibly a fatal reaction.

The recall happened after a customer contacted Sager Creek about the contamination. It will affect 22 states including Kentucky, Texas, Utah Missouri, Florida, Georgia and more. The products were sold in a 106 ounce metal cans that have the Best By Dates of Jun 01 19 printed on the top of the can.

The Allens products being recalled are Allens Cut Green Beans with the UPC code 0 34700 01224 4, Allens Field Peas with Snaps with the UPC code 0 34700 63214 8 and Allens Cracker Barrel Label with the UPC code 0 34700 01224 7.

The Monarch products being recalled include Monarch Mixed Cut Green Beans with the UPC code 7 58108 01048 2 and Monarch SWD Cut Green Beans with the UPC code 7 58108 01041 3.

Recalled Reliance products include Reliance MX/SH Cut Green Beans with the UPC code 0 74865 02895 9 and Reliance BL Cut Green Beans with the UPC code 0 74865 12172 9. Silver Source SH/C Green Beans with the UPC code 8 06795 04718 9 was also recalled.

Since the discovery of the contamination, no reports of illnesses or allergic reaction have been reported. People who do not have a shellfish allergy are not at risk.

Customers looking to get a full refund for their product should return to the place of purchase to be reimbursed.
