Recent reports have revealed that the new schedule for the event that will introduce the Ice Cream Sandwich Android and the Samsung Nexus Prime will be on Oct. 19. The venue for the launch event will reportedly be Hong Kong.

The question now being asked is whether the Nexus Prime can outperform the iPhone 4S. Here is a comparison of the expected specifications and features of Samsung Nexus Prime with those of the iPhone 4S.

Samsung have revealed that the Nexus Prime will be a Ice Cream Sandwich-based phone or, in other words, will run on the Android 4.0 mobile OS. It will have a Texas Instruments OMAP4460 processor, a dual-core Cortex A9 chip that is expected to run at 1.2 GHz. It will be complemented by 1GB of RAM along with 32GB of built-in internal storage.

In comparison, the iPhone 4S is loaded with the latest Apple operating system iOS 5. It is a free software update bringing over 200 new features to the iPhone including a location-aware reminders app, Newsstand, wireless syncing, Twitter integration, iMessage, a notification bar and widgets. The iPhone 4S comes with iPad 2's A5 chipset, which is expected to deliver two times faster CPU performance and up to seven times faster graphics performance. With high-speed download packet access (HSDPA) technology, the device is claimed to have data download speed that is nearly twice as fast as iPhone 4.

The Samsung Nexus Prime will have a AMOLED HD 4.65 inches wide screen, with a resolution of 1280x720 pixels. The smartphone also sports a front-facing 1.3 megapixel camera and another rear-facing 5 megapixel camera, capable of recording 1080P video. The iPhone 4S camera has an 8 megapixel sensor that takes 3,264x2,448-pixel pictures. It will capture vibrant photos, especially in low light. The camera is claimed to be 30 per cent sharper than the one found on the iPhone 4.

It need hardly be added that the world is eagerly waiting for the official launch of the Ice Cream Sandwich Android and the Samsung Nexus Prime, to see whether expectations will be fulfilled.
