Sarah Burke, a freestyle skiing icon, was honored on Thursday, at the X Games where a candlelight tribute was held a little more than a week after her ski crash in Utah.

The candlelight vigil was held at the top of a darkened Buttermilk SuperPipe and most athletes and thousands of fans said to be in attendance. Burkes' husband Rory Bushfield, her parents and her sister also made it out for the tribute.

Athletes were seen slowly skiing down the halfpipe and images of the fallen skiier were shown on screens.

Burke, 29, died in Utah on Jan. 19 after sustaining injuries during a training run on Jan. 10. She was a member of the Canadian Freestyle Ski Team.
