“Scandal” Season 6 recently revealed that it was Abby (Darby Stanchfield) who instructed Meg (Phoebe Neidhardt) to kill Huck (Guillermo Diaz). However, her real motives were never explained.

While speaking with TV Guide, Stanchfield said that Abby’s actions have a lot to do with her desire to stay in power. Now that she’s the chief of staff, Abby doesn’t want to lose her position in the White House. This means that she doesn’t really care who she needs to get rid of as long as she’s guaranteed to stay in position.

“Abby has been a pretty steady moral compass in this show. This is a real aggressive look at what Abby does with the subject matter of power. You do find out a lot more about what decisions she’s made and her actions leading up to the election,” she said.

Meanwhile, it is still unclear whether or not Huck has died. But it was obvious that his girlfriend, Meg, did not shoot him in the heart or the head. Meg shot Jennifer Fields (Chelsea Kurtz) in those areas to make sure that she will die, but it seems that she spared Huck.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Diaz said that it’s possible his character survived the shooting. After all, Huck also survived living in a hole for three months. “He’s a former trained killer spy… He’s been through a whole hell of a lot, so I’m hoping that he will have that inner strength to make it through this, but we’ll have to wait and see,” he said.

As of late, none of the Gladiators know that Abby had something to do with Huck’s shooting. When they find out in the next episode, Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) and Quinn (Katie Lowes) will take matters into their own hands. According to Lowes, “Quinn goes into full effect.” Washington added that the scene where Olivia confronts Abby made her tear up.

“Scandal” Season 6 airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. EST on ABC.
