“Scandal” star Bellamy Young recently proved just how talented she really is on her appearance on “Lip Sync Battle.”

The episode, which will air on Spike on Thursday at 10 p.m. EST, will see Young channeling Lady Gaga with an impressive “Born This Way” performance. In the teaser released by the network, Young can be seen wearing Lady Gaga-inspired attire, complete with face paint and glitter. She also showed off her toned legs in the sexy bodysuit. Young lip-syncs to the song, and she suddenly drops to the floor as the crowd cheers her on.

Seeing Young transform into an artist such as Lady Gaga is quite a treat because the actress is well known for portraying the role of a serious and stuck-up character in “Scandal.” In the hit ABC series, Young’s Mellie Grant has just been elected as the new president of the United States. She is stressed over the recent death of Elizabeth North (Portia de Rossi), as well as the mysterious organization’s desire to use her as their hostage.

Luckily for her, things have started to get better in last week’s episode when Rowan (Joe Morton), Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) and Jake (Scott Foley) finally had the chance to kill Peus (David Warshofsky). However, more things are expected to happen in the life of Mellie in Season 7. Not only will heading the Oval Office be stressful, but she’ll also struggle with her personal life, as well as her feelings for Marcus (Cornelius Smith Jr.). But despite these problems, Mellie has found a friend in Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington).

Earlier this year, Young opened up to Coveteur about Mellie and Olivia’s newfound friendship. The two worked together on Mellie’s campaign to become the next president of the country. “I feel it’s a very female thing, forgiveness. We have so much history between us but also so much similarity. Some of the history is great, and some of it, you know, anything Fitz-related is terrible. But it was beautiful to see those two characters get past it and really work shoulder to shoulder toward a common goal. And they’re unstoppable together,” she said.

Talking about the opportunity to give life to such a powerful and impactful character on the show, Young said that playing Mellie is “the gift of a lifetime.” “It is a battery that charges itself. That I get handed the script every eight days and get to go on this journey with this character… I love my job so much, I love acting so much, but this job is its own fuel. I’m not just lucky enough to have this job, I’m lucky enough to have this job with these actors,” she said.

“Scandal” has already been renewed for Season 7, but there are rumors that the upcoming episodes will be the last for the Washington-starrer. Following the first four seasons of Shonda Rhimes’ series, the ratings for “Scandal” dropped in Seasons 5 and 6.

“Scandal” Season 6 airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. EST on ABC.
