The Secret Service said Wednesday that a bullet had been found that struck a White House window from a shot authorities believe was fired five days ago, and they continue to seek a man wanted in connection with the incident. The bullet was stopped by ballistic glass.

The bullet discovery follows reports of gunfire near the White House on Friday, The Associated Press reported Wednesday. Witnesses heard shots and saw two speeding vehicles in the area, and an assault rifle also was recovered.

However, the Secret Service said it has not conclusively connected Friday's incident with the bullet found at the White House.

President Barack Obama, who was headed to the Asia Pacific economic summit, was not at home at the time of the shooting.
