After 10 episodes, the second season of “Secrets and Lies” has come to an end. In a two-hour season finale Sunday night, episodes “The Brother” and “The Truth” delivered almost as many twists and turns as viewers have experienced all season on the ABC drama.

After discovering his father in the same location as the money his wife paid his blackmailer, Eric (Michael Ealy) suspects his dad John (Terry O’Quinn) may have been involved with Kate’s (Jordanna Brewster) death. Luckily for Eric, Danny (Kenny Johnson) dissuades him from doing anything drastic and the two come up with a plan to get to the bottom of this.

Knowing where the blackmail money is located, Danny heads to a place called R.B. Trucking Co. in Georgia and discovers that the owner of the company may be related to Eric. Unaware of any relatives living in Georgia, Eric wonders how that could be possible until Danny reveals that the owner of the company, Robert “R.B.” Warner (Adam Kaufman), may have gotten Eric’s juvenile record from his father. And to make matters worse, Danny shows Eric a photo of Robert and his father John together.

After doing some research about R.B. Trucking Co., Eric and Danny head to the home of Corinne Warner (Roxanne Hart), a member of the board. While in Corrine’s house, Eric discovers photos of his father, Corinne and Robert, dating back to when Robert was a child. Shocked, Eric begins to realize that his father has been living two lives with a second family.

Unbeknownst to John and R.B., the two show up to the house as Eric is still there. After revealing to Eric that he has another son and wife, R.B. reveals his motive for blackmailing Eric and details his jealousy and anger towards John for helping Eric in life. After their argument, police show up at the home to arrest R.B. for extortion and John for bigamy and perjury.

Back in North Carolina, John and R.B. both say they had nothing to do with Kate’s death and Eric still remains a suspect, especially after his brother Patrick (Charlie Barnett) reveals that Eric once pushed their mother down a flight of stairs when he was younger. But that’s not Eric’s only secret: we also learn that his juvenile record hides the fact that he once killed someone.

While at the forensics lab, Detective Cornell (Juliette Lewis) discovers that the jacket belonging to the killer was a brand new. Cornell realizes the killer dumped their clothes during the night of Kate’s death and then turned in new clothes to police, and she knows exactly who did it.

This leads us to the final episode. A sleeping Eric is awoken by a phone call from his sister Amanda (Mekia Cox) who tells him that Patrick is trying to commit suicide. Eric and Amanda rush to the top of a building — the same place where Kate died — and finds a drunk Patrick hanging off the side.

After forcing Patrick down, Eric and his brother have heart-to-heart and Eric reveals that their mother used to abuse them. Although Patrick thinks Eric pushed her down the stairs, Eric accidently pushed her after trying to save his sister.

Back at Eric’s house, we finally discover where Danny’s daughter Rachel is, after Neil reveals Carly, a call-girl contacted him. Danny discovers his daughter at a brothel. Luckily, it ends well for Danny and Rachel, after she escapes jail time and heads home with Danny.

Unfortunately, things take a wrong turn for Eric after being arrested by Cornell for the attempted murder of his mother. Eric is then interrogated with Amanda by his side as his lawyer. After some grilling, Cornell gets Eric to reveal details about the night of the party and Eric realizes that Amanda was missing the same time as Kate went missing.

With proof that Amanda is the killer, Cornell gets Amanda to confess. Amanda reveals that she was on the roof with Kate and snapped when Kate revealed she was pregnant. After Kate tried to console her, Amanda pushed Kate away, accidentally pushing her off the building.

In a sad twist, it is revealed that Amanda is actually pregnant as well but will now have to spend time in prison. Revealing to Eric that she will plead guilty, Amanda begs Eric to raise her baby. While deciding if he wants to care for Amanda’s child, Eric receives a text message from the child Kate gave up for adoption when she was younger, Charlie, asking him if he wants to talk.

After seeming like the season may leave with some kind of a happy ending, we are taken to Cornell’s house. The detective enters her home and realizes someone is in it. After slowly searching through the rooms, she discovers her daughter, high on drugs, going through her belongings.

While talking with her daughter, Cornell realizes her gun is missing. As she turns around, the screen goes black and we hear gunshots.
