Selena Gomez might be on a break at the moment, but that doesn’t mean she can’t break records and prove why she’s the reigning queen of social media.

The 24-year-old singer was already the most followed person on Instagram, but she recently achieved another social media milestone when she became the first person to reach 100 million followers on the photo-sharing site, Seventeen reported. This comes as a surprise as Gomez has not even posted a photo or video on her account in over a month.

Gomez’s new achievement is mostly thanks to her loyal Selenators, who got the hashtag #SelenaBreakTheInternet trending on Twitter when they discovered that the “Same Old Love” hitmaker was close to getting 100 million followers on Instagram. Just hours after the hashtag started trending worldwide, Gomez surpassed the 100 million mark. Check out some of her fans’ responses to Gomez’s milestone below!

Meanwhile, Gomez recently canceled the remaining shows of her “Revival” tour and announced that she will be taking a break due to health concerns. The singer released a statement in August revealing that she’s currently dealing with the side effects of her lupus.

“As many of you know, around a year ago I revealed that I have lupus, an illness that can affect people in different ways. I've discovered that anxiety, panic attacks and depression can be side effects of lupus, which can present their own challenges,” she said in a statement released by People magazine.

“I want to be proactive and focus on maintaining my health and happiness and have decided that the best way forward is to take some time off,” she continued. “Thank you to all my fans for your support. You know how special you are to me, but I need to face this head on to ensure I am doing everything possible to be my best. I know I am not alone by sharing this, I hope others will be encouraged to address their own issues.”

Despite Gomez’s statement, rumors then surfaced that she might be dealing with alcohol or substance issues rather than the effects of her disease. However, a source close to the singer quickly debunked the rumor, telling the publication that her break is “absolutely not related to alcohol or substance abuse.”

The insider continued, “She decided to clear her calendar for the year in order to have this be her priority for future happiness and didn't want to leave any promoters at bay. She feels relieved that she can now make more sense of why she was feeling the way she was and is optimistic about the future.”
