Shania Twain has expressed her admiration for Taylor Swift and Kelsea Ballerini.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Twain said that she loves the music scene right now. In fact, the five-time Grammy winner has a lot of respect for today’s younger generation of artists, including Taylor Swift and Kelsea Ballerini. “She’s a perfect example of ‘I’m still myself, but I’ve changed,’” Twain said of the “Shake It Off” hitmaker. “She’s true to herself, and that’s a spiritual thing. I’m so proud of her.”

As for Ballerini, Twain finds her “sweet,” “humble” and “talented.” “I love Kelsea Ballerini,” Twain said of the “Love Me Like You Mean It” songstress. “She [also] writes, so I admire that.”

Apparently, both Swift and Ballerini are huge Shania Twain fans. “Shania showed the entire music industry that there were new options for where you could take your career in country music, how widely you could expand it,” Swift previously told Billboard. “She incorporated so many elements into what she represented — she created fashion moments, she was sexy, you got the impression she would tell you exactly what was on her mind, she was a writer, storyteller and dynamic performer on the grandest scale. She was tough and she was sensitive. She had been through extreme struggle and pain in her life and persevered. She was elegant, edgy and bold. Shania became everyone’s favorite woman because she represented how versatile a woman can be.”

Ballerini added: “Shania was so undeniably herself. She wasn’t scared of anything.”

Twain is set to release her fifth studio album, titled “Now,” in September. During the same interview with Entertainment Tonight, the Canadian recording artist said that she wrote all the songs in her upcoming album herself. “I wrote all of this music myself, so it’s all on me,” she told the news outlet. “If fans don’t like it, I just have to take that on myself. But it’s worth it, because even if a small amount of people are inspired by it, I’ve done what I set out to do.”

“Now” is Twain’s first studio album in 15 years. The album’s lead single, “Life’s About to Get Good,” was released on June 15. Other confirmed songs, as revealed by the RollingStone, include “Swinging with My Eyes Closed,” “We Got Something They Don’t” and “Who’s Gonna Be Your Girl?”

Twain describes the finished product of the album as “kind of schizophrenic musically.”
