Shelly Miscavige, the wife of Church of Scientology head David Miscavige, who was allegedly missing for the past six years, has been found, the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to TMZ.

The LAPD added that they have called off the search, which they began after receiving several missing person reports, including one from former Scientology member, Leah Remini. Gus Villanueva, an LAPD detective, was quoted by the Daily Mail as saying that the “the investigation is completed and classified as unfounded.”

Remini filed a missing person report for Shelly on Wednesday, and law enforcement officers closed the investigation one day later after they had a face-to-face meeting with her, TMZ reported.

Commenting on Remini’s filing, a spokesperson for the Church of Scientology issued a statement to the Daily Mail rubbishing claims of Shelly being missing. “This is just harassment. It is a publicity stunt cooked up by a small band of unemployed fanatics who live on the fringe of the Internet. The Church and the attorney for Mrs. Miscavige have already responded to this ludicrous claim.”

Back in 2012, when the media started questioning Shelly’s whereabouts, her lawyers released a statement to Us Weekly saying “any reports that she is missing are false...Mrs Miscavige has been working nonstop in the Church, as she always has.”

But, according to anti-Scientology journalist, Tony Ortega, Shelly has been missing from the public eye since 2006, and any attempts by Remini to find her whereabouts were discouraged.

Reportedly, when Remini questioned why Shelly was not present at Scientology member Tom Cruise’s wedding to Katie Holmes in 2006, church spokesman Tommy Davis told her, “You don’t have the f**king rank to ask about Shelly.”

Ortega, in his blog The Underground Bunker wrote, that he believes Shelly is currently housed in a compound called the Church of Spiritual Technology in Lake Arrowhead in California's San Bernardino Mountains, and that she has limited access to the outside world.

Rumors doing the rounds indicate that Shelly is being held against her will, and TMZ said that attempts by the entertainment news website to get answers to the question were not successful.
