A shooting occurred Monday night just blocks away from Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee, injuring five people. At least four of the victims suffered “serious injuries” and were taken to a hospital for treatment.

While two of the injured were taken to a local hospital, two others were airlifted to a hospital in Nashville, about 49 miles away. Information about the fifth injured person was not immediately available, according to the Associated Press, which added that police officials had no information so far about the suspect or suspects. Detectives at the scene were investigating the shootings, the report said.

"Although there does not appear to be a danger to the university community, please take precautions to ensure your safety," a statement from the university’s campus police reportedly said on its Facebook page, according to Reuters.

Police spokeswoman Natalie Hall said that police responded to reports of gunfire on Monday at about 9 p.m., Reuters reported.
