Slime Rancher 2 - portal
Yellow Home Portals allow for quick and easy travel in Slime Rancher 2 Slime Rancher 2

KEY POINTS

  • Yellow Home Portals can be built to enable fast travel
  • Portals can be built on specific spots on the map
  • Players must get the Resource Harvester upgrade first

Running back and forth between the ranch and the many points of interest across Rainbow Island in "Slime Rancher 2" can be tedious. Luckily, there is a way to cut down on travel time.

Players can quickly move across large distances by entering portals, which basically act as fast travel stations in "Slime Rancher 2." However, this does have a few requirements that players need to meet first.

"Slime Rancher 2" Portal Blueprints

First, players need to find out how to make portals in the first place. The blueprint for the Yellow Home Portal is given to players for free by the NPC at the communications terminal at the ranch.

The comms terminal sometimes has messages for players to gloss over Slime Rancher 2

Whenever there is an exclamation mark on the terminal screen, it means someone is waiting to talk to Beatrix. They often give blueprints or other goodies that players can use, so it's best to talk to them whenever possible.

Creating a Home Portal

Portals require a fair bit of resources to craft, though all of them are conveniently strewn about the large area to the immediate west of the ranch. These materials are as follows:

  • 10 Cotton Plorts
  • 250 Newbucks
  • 10 Jellystones
  • 10 Deep Brine

Cotton Plorts are dropped by Cotton Slimes, which are the yellow-colored ones with bunny ears. Newbucks are earned by selling any plort at the trading station inside the ranch.

Jellystone and Deep Brine are resources that only spawn in nodes around the map. Before players can harvest these materials, they first need to unlock the Resource Harvester Vac upgrade at the Fabricator. This upgrade will cost an additional 10 Cotton Plorts and 450 Newbucks.

Jellystone veins appear as rocks covered in pink blobs, and they can be commonly found on cliffs, caves and rock formations. Meanwhile, Deep Brine appears as jets of water spouting from the ground. These are typically found in areas near large bodies of water or cliffs overlooking the ocean.

Once all the necessary materials are gathered, deposit them in the Refinery and return to the Fabricator. Then, craft the Yellow Home Portal.

The Portal can be placed by entering Gadget Mode (the default key is "T") and looking for areas on the map marked by an arrow.
