“Sniper Elite 4” Narrative Designer Colin Harvey has revealed details about the game’s Italian Campaign. The first trailer for the story of the third-person tactical shooter stealth video game has also been released, revealing new concept art and environments that players will enjoy when the game officially arrives on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Windows in February 2017.

Harvey took to the official PlayStation Blog on Tuesday to explain what the Italian Campaign is all about. According to him, the game will commence with protagonist Karl Fairburne being dispatched to a secluded Italian island to gather information about Hitler’s wunderwaffe or wonder weapon. The new environments that Fairburne will stumble upon include vast forest lands, a secret tunnel, a viaduct and many more. Players can choose different spots they think could provide them with the perfect vantage point against enemies.

According to Harvey, the maps in the new game are three times larger than those in the prequel, “Sniper Elite 3.” Most of the environments featured in “Sniper Elite 4” were designed to channel the actual locations in the history of World War II. Meanwhile, certain events in-game would remind players of the real wartime events in the past. Because of this, Harvey said that players will have so many things to feast their eyes on.

Harvey addd that Karl’s narrative has been expanded and deepened as well, since the protagonist is bound to encounter stories inspired by real-life events during the war. Fishburne is bound to carry out his mission in a country that’s been trapped in Mussolini’s Fascism. Amid the war, other issues like the widespread of typhus and hunger also plague Italy by the time Fishburne arrives.

DSOGaming reports that Fairburne is generally tasked to help the country gain its freedom from Fascism by stirring resistance and uncovering the Nazi technology that was being developed at the time when intricate machinations were made for the Allied invasion of Italy.

“Sniper Elite 4” is slated for release on Feb. 14, 2017. Check out the story trailer below and tell us what you think of the Italian Campaign in the comments.
