Specifications of Sony Ericsson's Anzu smartphone are out in the wild and the reports confirm it's not running on Gingerbread juice.

Engadget reported that Russian blogger Eldar Murtazin said that the phone runs on Android 2.1, dampening hopes that it would run on Gingerbread. Anzu has a 4.3-inch LCD display with a resolution of 854x480 and is powered by an 800MHz Qualcomm MSM7230. The phone also sports a 12 megapixel camera with 720p video capture capability.

However, the report surmised that the phone will get an Android 2.3 update later. Anzu is the XPERIA X12 and is due in 2011.

The XPERIA X12 has a competitor in T-Mobile's HTC built G2 smartphone which runs on Android 2.2 and has a 3.4-inch AMOLED display screen. The G2 also runs on 800MHz Qualcomm MSM7230 chip. It sports a 5 MP camera with 720p video capture.

Also recently Sony Ericsson's much-touted PlayStation phone photographs had surfaced last month. The phone is due to run on Android 3.0 Gingerbread and will be powered by 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8655 chip. It also sports 512MB RAM and has a screen size of 3.7 to 4.1 inches.
