Star Scientific Inc. said it will appeal against a U.S. court's ruling on a patent infringement lawsuit with R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co., a unit of Reynolds American Inc.

On Tuesday, the court ruled that two of Star Scientific Inc's patents related to the curing of tobacco were not enforceable in a suit against R.J. Reynolds Tobacco.
