‘Star’ Season 1 Spoilers: Episode 5 Synopsis Released; What Will Happen In ‘New Voices’? [VIDEO]

Secrets are all too familiar on the Fox hit series “Star.”

Last viewers saw, Simone’s (Brittany O’Grady) foster father surfaced and attempted to take the teen with him after years of sexually assaulting her. However, Simone is still living with Carlotta (Queen Latifah) because by the end of the last episode, Otis was dead. After getting away with murder, the girls’ egos will threaten to tear them apart in“Star” Season 1, episode 5, “New Voices.”

“After getting a glimpse of their local competition, tensions rise between the three girls as they work on revamping their style,” the synopsis teases. In the promo clip for the Fox series, viewers see the girls preparing for their live audition in which Star (Jude Demorest) seems confident about victory because her opponents “have faces for radio.”

Despite her confidence, she finds herself in a war of words with Alexandra (Ryan Destiny). Carlotta does her best to keep the peace and warn Star that she doesn’t need to fight with someone close to her considering there are other people in the world who will try to tear them apart.

“Simone discovers old tapes of her mother’s, but Carlotta wants nothing to do with them – and she isn’t the only one who feels that way,” the synopsis states. Although the tapes were not shown in the promo for “Star” episode 5, from the clip, it looks like Simone is still struggling to assimilate to life outside of the foster care system.

“Meanwhile, Star puts her new relationship in jeopardy and Jahil (Benjamin Bratt) finds himself in a sticky situation of his own,” the synopsis states. It’s no secret that Star has Hunter (Chad James Buchanan) wrapped around her finger but will her manipulative ways prove to be too much for him to deal with?

At the end of the promo Jahil is attacked by two men and is later seen with a bag over his head as he is pushed to the floor of what looks to be an empty warehouse. Is this the end for Jahil? What does this mean for Star, Alexandra and Simone?

“Star” Season 1, episode 5, “New Voices,” airs on Fox Wednesday at 9:01 p.m. EST.
