The new teaser trailer for “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” was released online Friday morning by Lucasfilm and rapidly won acclaim from fans. The 88-second trailer for the movie, which is set to be released Dec. 18 2015, has already got devotees of the series reacting excitedly on social media outlets.

The trailer opens with, "There’s been an awakening. Have you felt it?" and continues with the narrator’s voice saying: "The dark side... and the light." The background score for the teaser is by John Williams, who also composed the main title music for "Jaws," "Superman" and the Indiana Jones series. The teaser is also being premiered at nearly 30 theatres in the U.S. over the weekend.

“Because everyone keeps asking me my opinion, I LOVED the Star Wars trailer. I got to see it not too long ago at Bad Robot. I was dying to talk about it but sworn to secrecy. It uprooted some giddy little kidness inside of me, and I think it strikes a great balance between modern filmmaking and classic Star Wars dustiness. In talking with JJ and seeing some other glimpses behind the scenes, I'm just incredibly excited for the film,” James Gunn, the director of "Guardians of the Galaxy," said on his Facebook page.

The movie is the seventh in the Star Wars series and will be the first of a new trilogy, which will be released by Disney, after it bought Lucasfilm in 2012, according to Bloomberg. There are also plans that the next part will be shot in the U.K., according to reports.

While the video had already created ample buzz in a day, a fake video of the teaser also appeared in just a few hours, according to Bloomberg, and got more than 5 million views.
