The 2012 Sundance Film Festival (Jan. 19-29) has arrived, but don't be fooled by all the hype: There's more to do in Park City, Utah, than to just see some indie flicks. While the annual film fest is a 10-day event held every January, there are plenty of things to do during the other 355 days of the year, too. Here's a quick best-of-the-best look at Park City, so that you know where to go and what to do while you're in town.
Best Place to Lodge
Hotel Park City
The Hotel Park City sits on the spectacular Park City Golf Club, adjacent to the base of Park City Mountain Resort. The magnificent hotel offers 100 luxury all-suite accommodations, elegant dining, a world-class spa, a complimentary ski shuttle, and a heated outdoor pool and Jacuzzi. All guest rooms have fireplaces, full-size kitchens or kitchenettes, separate living rooms, washers and dryers, jetted bathtubs, detached showers, and private patios with golf, pool, and mountain views.
Best Place to Eat
Cisero's Ristorante & Bar
Located on Main Street, Cisero's serves up some awesome Italian cuisine as well as Park City's best pizza. At night, this cool Italian eatery turns into a nightclub that features live entertainment and a state-of-the-art sound system. Enjoy dancing, rock 'n' roll, jazz, blues, and much more.
Best Place to Ski
Park City Mountain Resort
Park City may be known as a luxury ski destination, but it is also known as a family vacation destination. The Park City Mountain Resort has been known to organize a panel of Snowmamas who share vacation and ski tips on everything from packing to ski school, as well as fielding specific questions from curious parents.
The Sky Lodge
For a good time, head to The Sky Lodge. Located right on Main Street, it is one of Park City's swankiest hotels, and known to host a slew of celebrity parties. The lodge is the home of Zoom, a restaurant opened in 1995 by actor Robert Redford. There is also Sky Blue, located on fourth floor of the Sky Lodge. This indoor-outdoor lounge has a selection of whiskeys, scotches, cognacs, and cigars. This place is definitely a nightlife destination worth checking out!
Best Terrain Park
Utah's largest ski and snowboard resort, Canyons features the Iron Mountain express -- a lift that provides access to an additional 300-plus acres, with advanced and intermediate terrain, 12 new runs, and natural tree glades. The resort is conveniently located just four miles from Main Street. It is also the closest ski resort to all of the nightlife, shopping, and dining that Park City has to offer.
