‘Supergirl’ Director Kevin Smith Wraps Filming Season 2, Episode 17 [PHOTOS]

Kevin Smith has finished filming Season 2, episode 17 of “Supergirl.”

Smith revealed on Twitter that they wrapped his second directorial gig on the CW series on Wednesday at 11:30 p.m. In his tweet, Smith thanked the cast and crew for all the effort they put in while making the episode.

Smith also took to Instagram to share a photo of him with Melissa Benoist (Supergirl/Kara Danvers), Chyler Leigh (Alex Danvers) and David Harewood (J’onn J’onzz) from the set of the show. In the lengthy caption of the Instagram pic, Smith wrote that directing “Supergirl” has made him a stronger filmmaker and allowed him to be considered “good” at directing.

While most of the plot details about the episode are being kept under wraps, Leigh revealed in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that Alex will meet one of Maggie’s (Floriana Lima) former lovers in the installment.

“There’s a great moment in episode 17, Kevin Smith’s episode — who is probably the coolest person on the planet — where they have this moment that we run into one of Maggie’s exes,” Leigh told the news outlet. “Alex is kind of like, ‘Oh, let’s go chat her up.’ I think there’s profiling thing that’s going on.”

Apparently, Alex’s interest in Maggie’s previous relationship with her ex leads the DEO agent to discover her girlfriend’s rather dark past.

“Alex is, you know, she’s Alex. She finds out what really happened between them and it’s a much deeper story, a darker story,” Leigh teased. “It’s a lovely episode for Floriana, just learning more about Maggie’s background and what’s gone on in hers, and how it really does level the playing field between the both of them. So there’s great development in that.”

In addition to that little Sanvers story arc, the episode also features the yet-to-be-introduced villain couple played by Teri Hatcher and Kevin Sorbo. See Smith’s photos with Hatcher and Sorbo below:

The air date for Season 2, episode 17 has yet to be revealed, but an all-new episode of “Supergirl” (Season 2, episode 15) airs on Monday, March 6 at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
