Maggie (Floriana Lima) meets Alex’s (Chyler Leigh) long-lost dad in next week’s episode of “Supergirl.”

In a sneak peek from Season 2, episode 14, titled “Homecoming,” Alex introduces Maggie to Jeremiah (Dean Cain), who has just been rescued from Cadmus. Alex tells her dad that Maggie is her girlfriend. Although the Danvers patriarch is a little bit surprised to hear the news, he seems completely okay with her daughter dating another woman.

Jeremiah’s apparent support to Alex’s relationship with Maggie definitely helps the DEO agent become much more comfortable with her sexuality — something that may start a new conflict between the couple in future episodes.

“Because Alex has newly come out and Maggie has been out for a while and is much more comfortable in her own skin, comfortable with her sexuality, and comfortable about being a gay woman in the world, there’s been a bit of a power imbalance within the relationship,” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg told Entertainment Weekly. “Alex has been letting Maggie lead the way in the relationship. What starts to happen is, as Alex becomes more comfortable with herself and more comfortable with the relationship, some things happen that make Alex realize that they’re more partners than Alex perhaps thought, where she was like, ‘Well, Maggie’s in charge.’”

Meanwhile, back in next week’s episode, Alex and Kara (Melissa Benoist) arrange a family dinner to celebrate Jeremiah’s return. Things, however, go wrong when Mon-El (Chris Wood) starts to question Jeremiah’s sudden return.

While Mon-El is obviously not in the position to question Jeremiah’s unexpected comeback, the Daxamite’s iffy feeling about the former DEO agent may actually help Kara and Alex to step back for a while and see for themselves how much Jeremiah has changed since the last they were with him.

“He’s been under Cadmus’ control for the last 12 years. [So] the Jeremiah that we see might not be exactly what people expect,” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg told Entertainment Weekly of Jeremiah last July.
