Melissa Benoist as Supergirl
Does Livewire (Brit Morgan) really break out of prison in Season 2, episode 10 of the Melissa Benoist-led series “Supergirl”? The CW

It looks like Livewire (Brit Morgan) has developed her powers since the last time she was locked up in jail.

In a new sneak peek from Season 2, episode 10 of “Supergirl,” Livewire, a.k.a. Leslie Willis — who appears to have broken out of prison — shows up at National City Police Department’s underground garage. A police officer on the scene doesn’t think twice before shooting her, but much to his surprise, the bullet has no effect on the escapee. Kara (Melissa Benoist) and Mon-El (Chris Wood) soon arrive, and the Girl of Steel asks Leslie to surrender.

“Give it up Leslie,” Kara tells the fugitive. “We’ve done this before. The same thing always happens: I win, you lose.”

Apparently, that reunion between Kara and Leslie is unlike any other scenario they were in before because the villainess claims that she isn’t really Leslie.

While Kara and Mon-El try to figure out what their opponent has just said, a strange electrical sound coming from behind them draws their attention. Then right before their eyes, volumes of electrical energy transform into a large, bald man in a police uniform.

What do these all mean? Does Leslie really break out of prison? Or are faux Leslie and the policeman only projections of electrical energy that the real Leslie control from a remote location? Only time will tell.

Leslie made her first appearance in Season 1, episode 4 of the CBS-turned-CW series. She was once National City’s most prominent shock jock, working in the basement of CatCo Worldwide Media. Cat (Calista Flockhart), however, canceled Leslie’s show and reassigned her to the traffic chopper after she declined to stop ranting against Supergirl.

Leslie became the electric-powered baddie Livewire when a lightning struck the chopper she’s in during her first night as a traffic reporter. Livewire tried to use her newly acquired powers to kill Cat, but Supergirl defeated her in a fight, and she was later taken into custody by the DEO.

Leslie reappeared in Season 1, episode 18, where she teamed up with Silver Banshee (Italia Ricci) to fight Supergirl and The Flash (Grant Gustin). At the end of the episode, Livewire was taken back into custody and housed in a special cell the Scarlet Speedster helped design to contain metahumans.

“Supergirl” Season 2, episode 10, titled “We Can Be Heroes,” airs on Monday, Jan. 30 at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
