It seems like fans weren’t the only ones who got excited when The CW released the first footage of Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) and Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) teaming up on a mission together. Just a few hours after the new teaser for “Supergirl” Season 2 was dropped, Benoist took to Twitter to express what she thinks of the promo clip.

“Two supes bein’ super,” Benoist tweeted in reply to a post made by the show’s official Twitter account sharing the preview clip. The 27-year-old actress ended her tweet with a smiling face with sunglasses emoji.

The 30-second trailer, titled “Sky Trailer,” reveals a crisis that the two Kryptonian superheroes end up responding to. As revealed in the news, ground control has lost communication with a spacecraft, and people at the mission control center think that something catastrophic may have occurred, resulting in the spacecraft’s apparent emergency landing on Earth.

Unsurprisingly, Kara (Supergirl’s alter ego) says in the video that she has dreamt of working with her cousin Clark (Superman’s alter ego) on a mission like this for quite some time. Aside from the two alien refugees, the trailer also features Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart), who will appear in fewer episodes next season due to the production’s move from Los Angeles to Vancouver.

While Kara is going to be thrilled by Clark’s surprise visit to National City, her adoptive sister Alex (Chyler Leigh) won’t be that pleased to see the Man of Steel.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said that Alex will feel a little left out when Kara reunites with Clark.

“Kara is so excited to see Clark and so excited to be with him,” Kreisberg revealed. “[But] it’s almost a little bit like Alex feels taken for granted, because she’s the family member who’s put in the time” to guide Kara since the Man of Steel left her in the custody of the Danvers years back.

Although Alex loves Superman and considers him as family, Kreisberg said that her grudge toward him will set up “an interesting conflict between her and Kara in the first couple of episodes.”

“Supergirl” Season 2 premieres on Monday, Oct. 10, at 8 p.m. on The CW.
