"Supernatural" Season 11 Spoilers
Dean (Jensen Ackles) puts his life in danger in Season 11, episode 14 of "Supernatural." The CW

The boys are going back in time … to 1944 to be exact! During episode 14 of “Supernatural" Season 11, audiences will watch as the Winchester brothers go to new depths — literally — to take down The Darkness (Emily Swallow).

“Aren’t there still risks with time travel?” Sam (Jared Padalecki) asks in the promo video for upcoming CW installment, titled “The Vessel.” And to answer that question, Sam: Yes, there is.

According to the synopsis for episode 14, Sam and Dean (Jensen Ackles) will put their own lives on the line as they rewind the clock to find a “weapon powerful enough to defeat Amara.” And apparently that coveted item is located on an ill-fated submarine that “sunk at the Hand of God” several decades ago.

But the boys are desperate and so that calls for desperate measures — one which includes asking the devil himself, Lucifer (Mark Pellegrino), to send Dean back in time.

During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the show’s executive producer, Jeremy Carver, dished details on the forthcoming installment.

“We will be going back in time for an episode and we will be essentially spending an episode on a World War II-era submarine with American soldiers of the time,” he said, revealing that it’s the “Supernatural” version of “Das Boot.” “The whole production team has just done an absolutely astounding job, so that’s a really cool episode.”

While Dean rocks a sailor suit in episode 14 (and boy, does he look good in uniform!) Sam will spend the episode dealing with Lucifer’s shenanigans as he waits for his brother to return from the deep, blue sea.

“Supernatural” airs Wednesday nights at 9 p.m. EST on the CW.
